When purchasing your tickets, please indicate who the tickets are for by entering the names in the text box provided.

Junior tickets re available for those of you that are Under 18 on the day on the meal.

The date of the Annual Hockey Club Dinner and Awards Evening will be Saturday 28^th April 2012. Tickets will be available shortly for purchase but in the meantime please put the date in your diaries and start promoting the event around the club. Last year we had our most well attended dinner and it would be great to see even more members and parents there this year.

Race Night - Saturday 10th March 7pm start at SSC

There is a fundraising race night at the club on Saturday 10th March. Please support this event if you are able to. It's events like this that bring extra funds into the club that help us to cover costs and prevent subs and match fees increasing. Entrance is £10 to include a meal (choice of meal on the night). Tables of 8. A series of races will take place across the evening with minimum bets of £1 and prizes given out for the winning owners of each race. You can support the event in several ways: 1) come along on the night and support the event, 2) buy a horse in advance of the night at a cost of £5, 3) sponsor a race at £30 plus £10 for a prize (or supply the prize yourself). If you’d like to own a horse you can leave a cheque(made payable to Stourport Hockey Club) behind the bar in our membership box for £5. Please support this fun event if you can. Easter 2012 Hockey Camps

Once again there are MRM Hockey Coaching Camps being hosted at the club over the Easter Holidays. The dates are Tuesday & Wednesday 3^rd & 4^th April and Wednesday & Thursday 11^th & 12^th April. The cost is £25 per day, £40 per camp or £70 for all 4 days. There will be advanced, intermediate and beginners groups for all activities so there will be challenges and tests for everyone. Both camps will feature different skills and games, so book on to both to avoid missing out as you will not be doing the same thing twice. Each camp will have different challenges and activities to keep any player hooked on hockey! Cup Matches November 6th at Stourport

This Sunday (6^th November) sees Stourport host 3 National Cup matches. If you are free to go up to the club and watch please offer your support to our Men’s Masters, U18 Girls and U18 Boys who are all competing in their respective Cup Competitions. The details of the matches are as follows: Men’s Vets vs. Loughborough Town at 12.30pm, U18 Girls vs. Shrewsbury at 12.30pm, U18 boys vs. Old Hales at 2.30pm.

Annual Subscriptions - deadline 31st October 2011

The deadline for payment of annual subscriptions is Monday 31^st October. By this deadline members must have either paid their first subscription instalment or paid in full for the season. Members can pay in full or in instalments via the website (once they have registered) or by leaving a cheque for full payment behind the bar at the Sports Club in the SHC membership box. After the 31^st October all annual subscription fees will increase and payment of the discounted rates will no longer be possible. The membership box will be emptied on the 31^st October and any cheques received after this date will be considered to be late and members will be eligible for the extra amount (amounts payable on the website will automatically increase). Members who have not paid their annual subscription will not be covered by the clubs insurance and will be unavailable for selection from the weekend of 12^th November onwards. Subscription amounts are as follows: Full adult - £125 (increasing to £150), U21/Student/Unemployed - £90 (increasing to £115), U18 - £60 (increasing to £85), and additional U18 sibling - £30 (increasing to £42.50). First Aid Course at Stourport Sports Club

There is 1st aid course running on Thursday 22nd September at Stourport Sports Club 18.30-21.30pm.

If any coaches or volunteers are in need of updating their 1st aid then get yourselves booked on the course asap. If you are a volunteer for the hockey club this will be subsidised by the club.

Registration and annual subscriptions 2011-12

This season the deadline for completion of membership forms and payment of annual subs is 31^st October 2011. Those members that have not completed by this deadline will not be eligible for selection.

Membership forms are completed electronically via the registration page of the club website. If you are an U18 member you will also need to download and complete an U18 declaration form. These can be left behind the bar in the clubhouse in the SHC member’s box. Annual subs can also be paid electronically via the website (you can set up part payments if you want to) or a cheque for the full amount left behind the bar in the SHC member’s box. The full payment or first part payment must be received by 31^st October 2011 (after this date subscription amounts increase and non-payers will not be available for selection).

This season the team sheet and other very useful information will only be available on member’s pages of the club website (it will be moved very shortly). You must have completed a registration form in order to get login details for this area. Once you have these details you will be able to login and view protected information and once you have also paid your subs further pages will become accessible (happening shortly). The club also uses the registration database for communication with members so if you want to get the latest information get filling in the form. If you completed a form last year you will have to do it again this year as we have adopted a new system.

SSC Community Games

Stourport Sports Club is hosting a Community Games event on Sunday 11^th September 2011, 11.00am -3.00pm. This is planned to be a fun day for all the family inspired by the London 2012 Olympic Games. The day will include sports demonstrations, sports coaching, live music, bouncy castle, face painting, the launch of Burlish Top’s ‘Fitness Trail’ and much, much more! There will be fun for all the family, with all profits to be donated to Kemp Hospice and Air Ambulance.

The games will also give people the chance to put their skills to the test in our Olympics inspired competitions. There will be individual competitions or events for teams of 4, costing £1 per person to enter. Competition events for U11, U14, U16 and senior categories include cycling, athletics, netball and hockey, scoring points in each discipline. Top prizes to be won!

It would be great to see as many hockey club members as possible supporting the event – please pop along if you are able to. If anyone feels they can give up an hour of time to volunteer on the day please get in touch with Holly Lashford (07968682627).

Training has started 2011-12

Training is now up and running for all sections. Ladies is every Wednesday 7-8.30pm (Ladies 1’s 8-9.30pm). Men’s is every Thursday 7-8.30pm (Men’s 1’s 8-10pm). Juniors up to U16 is every Wednesday 6-7.30pm.

Junior Hockey Camp 25th, 26th and 27th July 2011

Summer Junior Hockey Academy

Stourport Hockey Club will be hosting a Summer Junior Hockey Academy every Monday night 6.00-7.15pm at Stourport Sports Club. The first session is on Monday 6th June 2011 and the last will be on the 22nd August 2011. This is a fantastic opportunity for Stourport Hockey Club members AS WELL as other junior players from the area (it is open to everyone) to get some extra and fun hockey coaching over the summer period. The session is open to boys and girls from the age of 7 up to 19. In order to cover the costs of the activity there will be a small charge of £3 per person per session. If you want to come along and give it a go just turn up to the pitches at 6pm and join in. Just make sure you register with one of our coaches when you get there and hand in your £3. You can attend as many or as few sessions as you want. There will be high quality coaching available from the likes of Rob Claris, Simon Miles, Dave Lewis, Ali Raza and James Terry. We hope to see our junior members there!

Fundraising Race Night Saturday 18th June

The Club will be hosting a fundraising Race Night on Saturday 18th June 2011 at Stourport Sports Club at 7.00pm. Tickets are £10 each but included in the price is a meal (choice available on the night). Tables will be made up of 8 people (there is the option for smaller numbers if you can't get 8 people together). There will be 9 races on the evening and we will be running a betting tote system (minimum bid £1) with lots of other opportunities to make yourselves some money! This is a great opportunity to help the club generate much needed funds (all profits will go to Stourport Hockey Club) and have a fun night with friends and family.

There are 8 horses in each race and we are looking for "owners" for each horse in advance of the night. Each horse will cost £5 to own and if you are unable to make it on the night this is a great way to contribute funds towards the evening. The winning owner in each race will receive a prize. We are also hoping to get each race sponsored and sponsors will be advertised on the evening as well as on our club website. Sponsorship of a race is £50 and if you or a company you know are interested in providing sponsorship please get in touch.

Pitch funding project

The pitch funding project has gained significant strength as we have just found out that we have been awarded £50,000 by the National Hockey Foundation towards the surface upgrade. The hard work to fund raise now continues at a pace and I hope that we will be in position, at the start of next season, to be playing on a new surface. Thank you to those of you who purchased or sold tickets for the Christmas raffle. Despite the weathers best efforts to thwart things we managed to raise £500 towards the pitch fund. Our next fund raising event is an auction of promises on the 5^th March at the club. Please put the date in your diaries and expect further details in the next week. Also, keep a look out for the pitch purchase scheme where you can personally contribute and "buy" a square of the new pitch. A further funding application is now being made to help top up the funds – watch this space!

Men's 1st team back in action

The Men's 1st team have an important weekend of fixtures ahead of them. They play Havant at home on Saturday at 1.30pm at the club followed by Birmingham University away at 12.30pm at Birmingham University. Good luck to the squad who we hope can kick-start the second half of the season with their first win. The weekend also sees the return of Phil Lashford as captain for the third time as Ben Dudley steps down to concentrate on his own performance in goal.

BOXING DAY

Given the current snow situation and the weather forecast for the week ahead there will be no matches on Boxing Day. However we are still meeting to socialise in the bar at the Sports Club which will be open from 12-6pm. I hope to see lots of you there.
